Project Strategy & Approach
While you might not think of drunk driving as a healthcare issue, the decision to drink and drive is a choice of personal accountability. I wanted to solve the problem of drinking and driving by stressing that if you never take your car out when you drink, you will not be tempted to drive home because it is not a possibility.
My PSA depicts three friends going out for the night, drinking too much, and getting in a horrible car accident on the drive home. This is a story we have all heard. I wanted to speak to young adults between ages 18-29 that do not live in large cities where public transportation is the main source of getting around. Often this age group does not have a substantial amount of income therefore they might be less willing to pay for a taxi. I wanted to explain that the cost of a taxi is far less than the cost of a DUI.
This PSA was made using Flash, Photoshop, and Garage Band. The photo’s I used were re-sized in Photoshop then imported into Flash were I animated them. The soundtrack for the PSA was arranged using Garage Band. After converting the soundtrack to a wav. format using iTunes, I imported it into Flash.

I hope that after watching my PSA those who it is targeted towards will think about the real cost of drinking and driving. Everyone knows the dangers and some of the consequences. Hopefully this will help put the monetary ramifications into perspective while offering a solution that could end up saving them money as well as their reputation.
