Project Strategy & Approach
Healthcare is becoming increasingly important, especially with all of the recent talk about changes happening within the industry. Food borne illnesses are major factors in the spread of infection and disease. Because of the way food in America is grown and produced, there are an increasingly large number of bacteria and toxins in our food before they are cooked or washed. Every time food is transferred from one place to another the possibility of it becoming contaminated increases. Human hands are said to be one of the filthiest surfaces, and to transfer food from one place to another it must pass through someone’s hands. Whether the food is being handled at its place of origin or the place where it is being served, every set of hands that touch it could spread bacteria. Washing your hands properly before and after touching food can decrease its chances of becoming contaminated. It is said that the proper way to wash your hands is with warm water and soap, scrubbing them for about 20 seconds. It does not take that long, so everyone should do it. This way we can all keep our food safe and our population healthy.
For my project I chose to show how food must move from one location to another. I used pictures of hands to show how easy it is for bacteria to be spread from person to person by simply touching food. The theme of my project is cleanliness and healthiness, so I chose photos with bright colors and fresh looking food, and created each scene based off of the colors in the photos. The last two scenes are simple in color to express cleanliness. I chose lighthearted music because of the fresh and simple nature of the photos.

Project Tagline
"It only takes 20 seconds. Wash your hands."
Desired Outcome
This project was designed to create awareness about how easily bateria can be spread between surfaces. The message is that it is easy to keep these germs from spreading by simply making sure everyone has clean hands before handling food. Hopefully this project will make people aware of how often food is transferrred before it is actually eaten, and inspire them to wash their hands to prevent infection.
